createAlbum(“Piano II”); is our third album and the result of a year’s development with our generative Music Engine, applied to some of the world’s best digital piano software and hardware. Unlike Al-driven systems, this approach offers real-time control. It runs infinitely and can be influenced by human input or left to evolve autonomously. The album features expressive, evolving piano compositions created through the interplay of algorithm and human interaction.
We used some of the most iconic and characterful digital pianos and piano software available today. From the physical modelling of Pianoteq and Arturia’s Piano V, to the the lush textures of Keyscape, to the deep sample libraries of East West and the distinctive sound of Roland and Yamaha hardware — each instrument brought something unique to the generative process. These tools weren’t just sources of sound; they helped us refine our algorithm to be as musical and expressive as possible. “Sounds of 1679” is a reimagining of the iconic Arecibo message, first broadcast into space in 1974 as a binary code, transforming it into a captivating, audiovisual experience. This project transforms the static interstellar message into a dynamic generative experience live recorded to video in one pass. It blends sound and visuals in a way that allows the audience to encounter the message’s transmission over time.
Received the Special Award: Awarded by the Herbert W. Franke Foundation Premiered at the Hamburg and Bochum Planetarium. createAlbum(“Piano”); is the second Music Non Stop album and the first in the series of createAlbum(); releases. The album was made during development of a generative music program we have been working on for 2 years. Each song on this album is a recording of the program while it is running. If you let the program run continuously on your computer, the song would keep evolving indefinitely. Alternatively, each time you restart the program, it generates a new song. I'm very proud to present #COUNTERSOUL, a real-time generative music composition & performance of the Bitcoin blockchain. Its development began in late 2021, and completed in January 2023 and is the first generative musical composition inscribed on Bitcoin. This is our debut release, and the first of many to come under the band name Music Non Stop. The holder of this NFT has the Freedom to Use this music for their own purpose and is granted full master recording and publishing rights. Available here - https://app.manifold.xyz/c/nicholascoleman What you are seeing and hearing is a live, improvised, wireless, electronic violin performance. In this recording, I was testing a new smart violin made by Digitaize. It has a sensor inside the finger board which transmits midi to the computer allowing me to play synthesisers and control musical expression through body movements. The video was shot on an iPhone 13 Max Pro, and the sound is coming from the small yet impressive Bose SoundLink Mini 2 which was my reference speaker for the test shoot. It is with the greatest of pleasure and excitement that I present for the first time the Electronic Violin. Performing the Moog Model D. There was a moment in the studio when I realised that this was a spiritual awakening and connection to the indigenous being.
